Is restless sleep leaving you drained and frustrated?

You go to bed needing a restorative night, but your sleep feels light, broken, or unsettled. You wake up throughout the night, struggle to return to sleep, or feel like you’re never fully asleep. By morning, you’re left wondering if you really slept at all.

You feel it in your low energy, your lack of focus, and the sense that your sleep just isn’t working the way it should. Night after night, it becomes harder to feel truly restored. And day after day, the fatigue and irritability accumulate.

Non-restorative sleep impacts every part of your life.

When your sleep is fragmented and non-restorative, everything feels more challenging. You may feel irritable, foggy, or physically tense. Small tasks take more effort. Your mood, productivity, and overall wellbeing are affected. Even when you spend enough time in bed, the quality of your sleep just isn’t there.

It can feel like your body won’t fully settle.

You might try new routines, supplements, or sleep products—but nothing seems to create the deep, consistent rest you’re looking for. It can feel discouraging when you’re doing everything “right” but still waking up tired.

Let’s restore deeper, more restful sleep.

Imagine waking up for the day feeling rested, your body restored and ready for the day. Your sleep resumes a normal rhythm, succeeding in its job of rest and repair overnight. You can fall asleep reliably, return to sleep easily if you wake up, and achieve deep sleep and REM sleep throughout the night. You have the energy and clarity to move through your day productively.

Our work together begins with a comprehensive assessment to understand your sleep patterns, lifestyle, stress levels, and the factors contributing to your restless sleep.

Using proven, structured techniques from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, we’ll create a step-by-step plan to help your body unwind more fully at night, improve sleep architecture, and support a more consistent, restorative sleep cycle—without relying on quick fixes.

As your sleep improves, you’ll learn how to maintain these patterns through daily life and periods of stress. With deeper rest supporting you, you’ll feel more balanced, focused, and energized.

Therapy for Restless Sleep can help you:

  • Sleep more deeply and consistently through the night
  • Reduce frequent waking and physical restlessness
  • Wake up feeling more refreshed and restored
  • Improve focus, mood, and daily energy
  • Build long-term habits for better quality sleep

Deep, restorative sleep is within reach.

Frequently asked questions about therapy for restless sleep

Frequently Asked Questions

Why is this approach better than medication for restless sleep?

This approach focuses on identifying and addressing the underlying causes of restless sleep, rather than masking symptoms. While medication may offer short-term relief, it often doesn’t improve sleep quality long-term. By working on patterns, behaviors, and your body’s natural rhythms, you create lasting improvements in how you sleep.

Why is therapy preferable to medication for restless sleep?

This treatment uses proven techniques from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to address the root causes of sleep problems whereas medication addresses the symptoms. When the medication runs out, the sleep problems often return. CBT works to correct the behaviors and thoughts that keep you stuck in cycles of fragmented, non-restorative sleep.. You’ll learn skills that last a lifetime.

How many sessions does it take?

In most cases, treatment consists of an evaluation session and 3-6 therapy sessions. If you are taking certain medications that have to be tapered slowly under medical supervision or if you have other medical or mental health conditions, treatment might require a slower pace or additional sessions. Once we meet for the evaluation, I can give you an informed estimate of how many sessions you’ll need.

Do I have to stop taking medication to work with you?

No. If you want to stop taking sleep medication—and your physician approves—I can help you learn to sleep without medication. However, some people find that the combination of medication and CBT is preferable in their situation. Once we determine the cause of your sleep problems, we will create an appropriate treatment plan in consultation with your physician or pharmacologist.

Do you prescribe medication?

No. Psychologists do not prescribe medication. Medication for depression, anxiety or other underlying mood problems can be helpful if those symptoms make it harder to follow through with our treatment plan.. Occasionally, sleep medications may also be helpful. If we decide that it makes sense to add medication, I can refer you to a prescribing doctor or NP and we will work together on your treatment plan.
